Пять лет назад Шэнь И, талантливый художник, на основе фотографии ребенка нарисовал портрет, показывающий, как этот ребенок выглядит через несколько десятилетий. Но этот обычный на первый взгляд инцидент стал причиной того, что Лэй И-Фэй, оперативный сотрудник, работающий под прикрытием, был обнаружен и убит. Шэнь И с тех пор продолжает мучиться чувством вины и, чтобы выяснить, что на самом деле произошло с И-Фэем, он принимает предложение стать портретистом в правоохранительной организации и начинает сотрудничать с полицией.
