Кого можно встретить на ночных улицах Нью-Йорка? Запоздалые прохожие, влюблённые парочки, машины, отъезжающие от кафе и кинотеатров, последние пассажиры метро, - жизнь мегаполиса не останавливается ни на минуту. В тёмное время суток нужно быть особенно осторожными - город наводняют существа, каждое из которых пострашнее целой банды уличных хулиганов. Это привидения!Среди них мало таких безобидных и милых созданий как Каспер! Призраки Нью-Йорка – могущественные монстры, которые вырастают до размеров небоскрёба, изменяют форму, просачиваются сквозь стены и люки городской канализации, и крушат всё вокруг, как Годзилла. Причём обычными средствами совладать с ними невозможно: ни танк, ни автомат, ни гранатомёт не возьмёт монстра.Известный учёный, доктор Игон Спенглер, всю свою научную карьеру посвятил изучению привидений. Игон Спенглер сделал целый ряд важнейших научных открытий: он доказал, что каждый призрак распространяет эктоплазменное излучение, по которому его легко вычислить. На основе своей теории доктор Спенглер создал детекторы привидений, бластеры, и организовал первый отряд охотников за привидениями. Новый отряд охотников за привидениями сформирован из лучших студентов Игона Спенглера, а Игон остаётся их руководителем, отправляя ребят на очередное задание.
