Краткий обзор фильма:
Америка, 1934 год, Средний Запад. 18-летний беглец Бен Хокинс находит приют в странствующем цирке «Карнавал», в котором есть: цыганка Софи, читающая карты Таро, ее парализованная мать, владеющая телекинезом, слепой профессор Лодз, читающий чужие мысли, бородатая женщина Лайла, сиамские близнецы, укротительница змей Руте, а также карлик-надзиратель Самсон. Владельцем цирка является загадочный Хозяин, который имеет определенные планы относительно молодого Хокинса, поскольку тот скрывает тайный дар. Он может исцелять больных и оживлять мертвых, правда, ценой другой жизни.А еще у Бена бывают странные сны. И он не единственный, кто их видит. У проповедника из Калифорнии Джастина Кроу, который когда-то встречался с Беном, бывают такие же самые видения. Джастин считает, что выполняет Божью волю.
