После смерти жены и ухода в отставку Йоанн Питерс вместе с дочерью Камиллой переезжает в Хайдерфельд, где он провёл своё детство. В скором времени в местном отделении полиции появляется свободная должность, и это - возможность для Йоанна всё сначала. Сразу же появляется новое дело, связанное со смертью молодого футболиста Дрисса Ассани, тело которого было найдено в реке. Ни у кого в местной полиции нет опыта раскрытия таких дел, кроме Йоанна.
