Краткий обзор фильма:
Вена, 1886 год. Происходит серия убийств сначала проституток, затем детей, потом приходит черёд аристократов. Полиция сбивается с ног в поисках неуловимого маньяка, пока ветеран Альфред Кисс не натыкается на молодого психиатра Зигмунда Фрейда. Будущий отец психоанализа пока что никому толком неизвестен, а вечера коротает на званых ужинах венского высшего общества, где однажды знакомится с ясновидящей Флер. Она, кажется, имеет какое-то отношение к происходящему — может предсказать, где произойдет следующее убийство и дать психологический портрет чуть ли не любого встречного. Эти трое объединяют усилия и пытаются выследить злоумышленников, в совершенстве владеющих излюбленным методом самого Фрейда — гипнозом.
