Джек Доукинс по прозвищу Ловкий плут проник в чужой дом, за что его отправляют в Австралию на каторжные работы. По воле дедушки Оливера туда же отправляется его внучок-тёзка вместе с девочкой Ханной Шулер. На корабле, плывущем в Австралию, Ханна узнает страшную информацию: капитан хочет подставить Джека и сделать его повинным в свершении преступления.
